PLAY GUIDELINES

1. Eligibility:  Individual players are welcome to register and will be connected with a team.

2. Registration: Team registration (2 – 4 members) is $100; individual registration is $25.00.  Registration is due by Friday, March 2, 2012.  Teams paying at the door are $120.

3. Teams: Teams will consist of no more than 4 players. Teams will play from one letter tray against another team of up to 4 players.  Individual players will be connected with other individual players to form a team, or added to a team with less than 4 members. Teams may consist of 2, 3, or 4 players – but all teams will pay the $100.00 team registration fee.

4. Game Play: All participants must follow the Official Scrabble® Game Rules.  All participants must use boards and tiles provided.  Play will consist of two 30-minute games with a break between rounds.  Teams will rotate during the break so participants will have an opportunity to play — and have fun — with more people!  Each team will have 3 minutes per turn.

5. Challenges: If a player wishes to challenge a word, he/she will raise their hand to signal a judge.  The judges will then determine the validity of the word in question.  Lost time during this process will be forfeited and failed challenges will cost the challenging team $5.00.

6. Scoring: At the end of each round, one member from each Scrabble® team will turn in their score for that round to the Score Keeper(s).

7. Sneak-A-Peeks: If a team decides to sneak-a-peek at the dictionary, they will need to know the first 3 letters of the word; they will be allowed a 30 second peek for $1.00.

8. Buy-A-Letter – Teams will be given the opportunity to buy a letter.  Teams may purchase one letter per turn at $1.00 per point.  There is a limit of 3 letter “S’s” per team, per round.
